Q&A

27 January, 2009 Deva Leave a comment

Q: Where the hell have I been?

A: Ugh – Life has been one thing RIGHT after the next, leaving me with very little time to blog. Especially now – I’m at work (super early, might I add) and there are a zillion things I need to get done.

Q: If you’re doing so much, what are you slacking on (aside from blogging)?

A: 1. My google reader. Oh gosh – I don’t even want to KNOW how many articles I have to read. I’ll probably have to “Mark all as read” for most entries (minus the blogs, of course).

2. Sleeping.

Q: Anything exciting going on?

A: I’m moving in 4 days. Of course, that means I’m spending a lot of time gathering my stuff and figuruing out how I will get it from point A to point B. And I bought a Wii last weekend :) Sadly, I don’t have much time to play it.

Wrap up: So anyway, I have so much I want to say. I promise I’ll make time for a little something tonight.

apologies (and a question)

23 October, 2008 Deva 1 comment

I just want to apologize for a few things:

1. I haven’t been posting about my 29 Day Giving Challenge and I feel terrible. Don’t give up on me, though – I’m always trying to do good things in the world. When I’m not busy at work or traveling around the East Coast, I’ll give some updates.

2. I REALLY wanted to make a vlog yesterday (even though I hate the sound of my voice when it’s recorded), but I totally failed. I’ll make one, I swear, but it’ll just be on my own time.

3. I just haven’t been posting about anything lately. I guess things are happening in my life, but you guys know the gist of it – I found a new apartment (already “furnished” with a roommate), I work all day, I commute to and from Connecticut all day, and I hang out with Adam. Nothing new.

4. I have a 1.5 day vacation (plus the weekend) – STARTING TODAY! I’m really excited about leaving town, but I might be more excited about not having to commute to work for a couple of days. ONLY 5 MORE DAYS OF COMMUTING BEFORE I MOVE!

5. (the question) I want to change the name of my blog (badly) and the theme. Any ideas/website suggestions? Would it be cheesy to use my name in some creative fashion?

questions about my music.

21 August, 2008 Deva 3 comments

First of all, thanks to Matt for these questions. I love blogging about my music (I think).

Anyway, I feel like I’m about to reveal a lot about myself. My music is very representative of who I am. If I could list every song in my itunes library, you all would know everything about me… kinda. Anyways, please don’t hate on my music. I might cry.

Q: If someone new were in your car, what song on your player would you be the quickest to skip out of embarrassment:

A: Dolly Parton’s “Jesus and Gravity”. Yikes.

Q: What song or songs is/are most “atypical” on your player?

A: Once again, this award goes to my collection of Dolly Parton… Adam gave me one of her CDs. Wow. I fail.

Q: What song(s) on your player turns you on?

A: I’ll just label this question “most romantic song” because none of my songs turn me on. So my answer – maybe Gavin DeGraw’s “More Than Anyone”.

Q: If you wanted to get a member of the opposite sex in the mood, what song would you program to come on when they are in the car?

A: That totally depends on the guy. I can’t answer this question without more detail about who the guy is.

Q: What is the longest song on your player?

A: “Rite of Spring” from Disney’s Fantasia (performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra). 22 minutes 28 seconds. Booya.

Q: What do you think is the silliest song on your player?

A: Hahaha – “Don’t Fall In Love With A Homo” by Jonny McGovern. This is one of the most ridiculous songs I’ve bought… except it’s also amazing (and full of good advice to straight women).

Q: What did you most recently add to your player?

A: So, I’m a part of this group that reviews random CDs every two weeks, and our most recent CD is “Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust” (English: With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly) by Sigur Rós. I have no clue what the lead singer is saying, but it’s beautiful.

Q: What did you most recently delete?

A: I can’t remember. When a song is deleted from my itunes playlist, it’s also deleted from my memory.

Q: What is your favorite song on your player that is from a movie?

A: THIS IS A HARD QUESTION. I almost don’t want to answer this because I feel like every song is in a movie at some point. The winner goes to “Good Morning” from Singin’ In the Rain only because it’s my favorite movie of all time.

Q: Is there a song on your player that is only there for someone else’s benefit?

A: No. Sometimes I download songs because other people/my friends like them (eventually I end up liking them too), but that’s about it.

Q: What song or artist do you find yourself skipping most frequently and therefor should probably delete?

A: No – this question doesn’t apply to me. When I skip songs, it’s because I’m not in the mood to listen to them at that point in time. Eventually I’ll be ready to listen again. And why would I delete my songs? That’s like throwing away money.

Q: Without cheating, start your player and list the first 10 songs that come up in random play.

A: Crap. I was afraid of this.

1. Gwen Stefani “Wonderful Life”

2. KT Tunstall “Another Place to Fall”

3. Celine Dion “Taking Chances” (haha)

4. Barbra Streisand “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (oh gosh…)

5. Harry Connick Jr. “But Not For Me”

6. Ani DiFranco “Cloud Blood”

7. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat “The Brothers Come to Egypt – Grovel, Grovel” (awesome)

8. MIKA “Stuck In the Middle”

9. Clay Aiken “Shine” (oh dear God…)

10. John Mayer Trio “Another Kind of Green”

———

Wow. I feel vulnerable. I think I’ll lay off the entries about music for a while…

it’s 12:42am, and I’m bored

16 June, 2008 Deva Leave a comment

I stole this from one of my blog pals, Kay. Thanks :)

Anyway, questions:

1. What did you do 10 years ago?

- 10 years ago from today? Oh gosh – I was 14 and just finishing up 8th grade. Maybe this was the summer when my choir sang at Carnegie Hall… I think it was. That was an interesting trip – being a tourist in the city I was born in.

2. 5 items on your to-do list today:

- apply for jobs, buy coffee, go to the gym, call my uncle, and read. My life isn’t too exciting right now.

3. Snacks I enjoy:

- Recently, I’ve been eating a lot of watermelon. I need to stock up on some next time I’m at Whole Foods.

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?

- Take care of my family. Of course. Whatever they need, I’d cover. I have a fairly large family, so hopefully I’d have some money left after this.

- I would take all of my closest friends on a trip to wherever. Basically, we’d hit up every continent.

- I’m definitely into the house renovation thing – I’ve always wanted to do something like that.

- Pay off grad school loans.

- Buy a new wardrobe. and a new computer. and an ipod touch. and a miniature pig. and an awesome loft in New York City to live in…

5. Places I would live:

- Costa Rica; Valencia, Spain; anywhere in England; Washington DC (one day); Hawaii

6. Bloggers I am passing the challenge onto are:

Whoever feels the need to answer these questions. Go for it, ya’ll.
