The last 9 months of my job have been leading up to this upcoming jam-packed weekend.  Selection Weekend 2009.

We fly in a bunch of people from around the country, and even the world, to participate in in-person interviews with a panel of “judges” (we’re starting to call them interview committee members).  There’s also a big-ish 200+ guest cocktail party the first night of the weekend where all people, rich and poor, come together to celebrate the good work my organization is doing – and obviously the good work of the fellows and finalists too.

This had better be grand.

My team has been extra careful to NOT slack off until the last minute, and I’m pretty sure it has paid off.  We’re able to leave on time and no one is stressed.  Not even me.  Not even my boss.  Excellent.

All I want is for this weekend to run smoothly.  It doesn’t have to be perfect – just devoid of major interruption.

And after this weekend, I will sleep.  A lot.  Get excited.

So, I’m in Philadelphia for the next 4 days. It’s my 2nd work trip in less than 6 months. And it will be my last work trip until next July. Bummer.

Luckily, I’m not really in charge of much while I’m here… I’m just sorta around as moral support and to get to know our fellows. It’s been a good time so far (with a lot of good looking people).

Surprisingly, I’m super duper tired – and it’s only 9:30pm! Of course, because I’m a weirdo, I still won’t go to sleep for another 3 hours. Oh well. I’m over it. I might go out for coffee.

Don’t be surprised if my posts are exceptionally boring and short for the next few days. Sadly, I won’t have much time to devote to this. I’m technically at work until Sunday.

THANKS to all for the congrats on my new job :) I’m super excited – and nervous – about this new endeavor.

Good bye, grad school*. Hello, the rest of my life… yikes.

What I’m most excited about is the fact that I’m working for an organization whose methods and ideas I fully support. My unofficial title is “Recruitment Associate Extraordinaire”. I’ll just call myself an RA – like in college; except not. Anyways, I haven’t started yet, but I’m pretty sure my job involves the recruitment of their fellows (I love self-explanatory job titles) among many other tasks. Fun stuff.

I start on Monday. We go to North Carolina on Thursday to meet the new 2008 Fellows. Then, who knows…

I am so ready to start making money. I’m also looking forward to vision and dental insurance.

AND, on top of that, I can start saving for my move to New York City. Booya.

* My grad school still hasn’t mailed out diplomas (I only graduated almost 2 months ago), so I guess I’m not really done with it.
